I am trying to find out if applying to numerous cards on-line will have a negative effect on my credit report. I know it's the case in the real world, but I just don't know if they even actually check your credit in these 30 second approvals because you can decline the card if they approve you. Thanks for any help.

You should work under the assumption that your credit report is being pulled when you apply for credit. So, yes, too many inquiries in a short period of time will have a negative impact on your score. Online is the real world too. :)
