Hi,

My situation is kind of unique. About 14 years ago I left the States and gave up my American Express Card. My credit was excellent. I now have an international visa card (debit card) and my credit is also excellent. What I would like now is a regular credit card, no monthly fee that I can use upon my return to the States. How do I go about doing that. My financial situation has changed since I had the American Express card but my income is sufficient for my credit needs.

Thanks
Judy

You'll need to apply for a credit card. I doubt Amex would still have a record of your old account after so many years.

Most major credit card issuers in the US require a US address in order to apply for a credit card, so you may have to wait to get your US credit card until you move back to the States. There are, however, some US issuers who do business abroad. You may want to check them out to see if your card would be transferable to the US once you move.
