Topic How much should I pay in interest? Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

I'm new at this whole credit card thing. I have no credit history. I'm planing on trying to get a department store credit card before I apply for a major credit card. However, I would like to know how much APR is too much. I know I won't be able to get a really low APR%, but I don't want to get ripped off by really high % either. What is the lowest I can get away with?

You should be able to find a card with an APR between 17% and 21%. Keep in mind that if you plan to pay off your balance each month the APR really doesn't matter.

Thanx Clark, That is exactly what I wanted to know. :)

This is true as long as the card has a grace period. Some cards don't, so watch out and read the terms carefully before you apply.
