Maybe someone can tell me what Card is a good one to apply for in my situation.
Ok, here goes: I'm an 18 year old freshamn college student. I dont have a "steady" income, but I do get cash here and there. I need a credit card to 1)Use when I'm out of cash and am starving to death.. 2)be able to make online purchases without going through someone else 3)build a good credit history
I dont intend on making any large purchases. Even with this site, I really dont know how all this APR and other charges work. I want a card where, if I pay by the first billing or whatever, I dont pay any more than I would if I bought the item with cash.
I'd also prefer that, in a case that I WERE late on a payment, the penalty wouldnt be so severe.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

I would recommend that you apply for a student card. You should be able to receive one, seeing that you are a student. If you receive student loans for living expenses I believe you can report that as income. Check out the American Express student, the Capital One student and the GTE student cards.
Based on your comments I would recommend that you figure out where you are going to get your monthly payments from. Getting cash "here and there" may not take care of a bill that arrives on time each month. You may want to see if you can get some assistance from your family, slightly higher student loans or a part-time job if you don't think you can cover monthly bills on time. Late payments are one of the worst things you can do to your credit history.
