I need to get a credit card but have a blemish on my record from about six years ago. I do not want an annual fee, or to get a secured card. A low credit limit (around $500) is fine by me. I have been turned down for a credit card because of so many card companies checking into my credit history. (About a year ago, I applied to anyone who sent me a flyer - they all turned me down, despite an excellent track record after the one incident.)

Which card could I apply for that would meet my needs, and yet not turn me down?

There is no way to guarantee that a credit card issuer will approve your application. Even "pre-approved" or "pre-selected" applications can be turned down.

I would suggest that you use the CreditCardMenu.com search feature, input your information, and start from there. Be careful not to apply for too many cards at once or you will have excessive inquiries on your credit reports, and this itself will result in a denial (as you have discovered the hard way).

Good luck,
