I sure hope someone out there can help me with a big, major problem I have in paying back a big debt I have with Discover Card. I've gone three months without paying Discover (because I thought I was going to claim bankruptcy but decided against it). Discover goes thru Nationwide Credit to try to collect their debts. I worked out with a woman on the phone from NC last week that I would pay $100 a month (to lock in my commitment with NC) until I could come up with half the money I owed ($5,000) to settle my account with Discover. Three days later, my 1991 Toyota Tercel dies, and I was in desperate need of a car. So I was approved by Toyota for a new car, no money down, with payments of $300 a month. NC gets a red flag that I purchased the car a few days ago, and now they changed their mind about how long I have to scrape up the money to pay them. I no longer have as long as it takes to come up with the $5,000 ... and now they want it by Jan. 24th. Today is Jan. 12th. Nationwide scolded me and said why is it that I can afford a new car, but cannot pay my bill. I tried explaining that I was stuck without a car at all ... needed transportation ... purchased a car with no money down and relatively low payment, with the 1st payment due by the end of February. So far NC won't budge, and I am so shooken up over this, I am sick. I can't stop crying and don't know what I'm going to do.
Please, does anyone have any insight or advice as to what I could do? I am already frantically looking for a 2nd job to work in addition to my 1st job. I am determined to pay this off, but need more time. NC keeps throwing it in my face that I went out and purchased a new car.
Thank you.
