How do student credit cards compare to other credit cards? What are their benefits? What are the downfalls?

Student cards tend to have *slightly* higher rates. They also have much smaller credit lines - typically between $1,000 and $3,000.

Their biggest advantage of student cards for college students is that they are easier to get approved for. Banks think (not without reason) that today's students are tomorrow's high-paid professionals, so they are often willing to take a chance on somebody with very limited credit history. That's not the case for non-students.
