I have never had a credit card that earns frequent flyer miles or any other "perk" and have decided that I would like one. Right now, I don't get any type of reward for my purchases.
How does it work? Do you have to carry a balance to earn the miles or can you pay it off monthly and still keep the miles? I need guidance on the best card out there for this purpose. I am getting ready to put a sizeable amount on a credit card and then pay it off the next month. I don't want to miss my opportunity to earn some rewards.
Thanks for any input you can give me.

Typically, you earn rewards for new purchases. Balance trasnfers may or may not be eligible.
Keep in mind, many travel cards have an annual fee, so it only makes sense if you charge a lot.

We are looking for another business credit card that gives airline miles rewards on any airline, does not have blackout dates, no limit on miles that can be earned, etc. I realize that there would be a fee for this type of card.
