Hi... several weeks ago I filled out a credit card apllication online, anyway some company contacted me last week. She stated that they garantee a credit card with $3,000. But they require $290.00 and from my checking accont and they need routing # for it. She said that the transsaction will take place on the 16th. The phone # she gave me is bussy all the time.
Its this any common or it popular scam and I should change my account #?

Sergey,

First, it's unlikely there is any relationship between you applying online and this call (unless you applied for THIS company's card).

Second, you should not sign up for anything that requires your checking account #. The only exception to this rule is secured cards, but in this case you have to know the bank you are dealing with, verify that they offer Visa/MC product (and not a store card), verify that they report to credit agencies (otherwise, there's no point in getting it) and make sure you know all the rates.

Thanks and good luck
