what tips do you have for responsible credit card use?

By Jon E On 09/26/03

Yes, that's simple. Don't borrow more than you can comfortably afford to pay back. Also never borrow more to pay off existing debts as you will find interest payments make the original debt spin out of control.
Also, always make your payments on time. If in doubt about repayment dates always phone the company.
This is vital if you wish to build a long term positive credit history. Once you've got one of those the world is your oyster.

I would suggest using credit cards like cash and always paying off the monthly balance. Then you just pick and use the credit cards that pay you the most cash back or give you other rewards for your spending. Then you can just enjoy the benefits of funneling your spending through the cards.
