I am international student and don't have any credit history. I am doing my coop and so started earning money. But when I applied for Discover student card they refused my application and reason mentioned is

TEMPORARY RESIDENT

Does anyone understand what it means. I have seen so many of friends getting approved with on campus jobs. I didn't understand why they refused mine.
Thank you

Do you have a social security number?

I think certain credit cards take into account whether you are a citizen, perm resident, or temp resident. I remember reading that in an application I once filled out, it stated something along the lines that to apply you had to be either a permenant resident, or a citizen

My immigration status is Temp. resident, however I have never had that reason for a decline in a CC. I do however have a Social security number, so maybe that takes it into account?

Even if you do have a social, I believe that it states your immigration status on that, so maybe they dont issue CC's to temp residents?

Im just guessing tho, so maybe you want to listen to one of the more experienced ppl here when it comes to CC's....I just know about immigration :o)
