Topic Young College Student with a Dilema Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

By BrKonman On 07/14/00

Hey there,
My situation is, at present, a little distressing. I am currently only 17 years of age, and have just completed high school a year early. As a result I am entering into college a full year before reaching 18.
My hope was to be able to maintain a fair degree of financial independence during this time. I have an established savings account(soon to be money market) and a checking account received with a cosignor(my mother).
Unfortunately, obtaining a credit card has proven impossible, as every set of terms I have read requires a minimum age of 18. If someone can help me out with my dilema, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advanced,
Irritated in IL

I would suggest that you have one of your parents co-sign for a credit card or add you as an authorized user to an existing account, until you turn 18.
