PLEASE RESPOND. WE OWED THE GOVT. LAST YEAR,
SO GOT A CARD & PAID THEM OFF. THOUGHT THE
INTEREST ON CARD WAS HIGH, BUT THAN, DID NOT
WANT TO RUN AFOUL OF GOVT. INTR. WAS 19%,
AND FIRST TOOK OUT 1,000 CASH--INITIAL PMT.
TO GOVT., HORRORS--FOUND OUT CASH INTR. WENT
UP TO 25%, TOTAL TO PAY OFF GOVT. 4,700, NOW
MAKE PMTS OF 175/MTH. HARDLY TOUCHES PRINCIPAL. PLEASE HELP

I don't fully understand your question. You paid a gov't tax bill I guess, with a cash advance instead of charging the tax payment to your card. Now the gov't claims you owe more than you paid, and you are not happy with your current credit cards APR???? Assuming your credit history is good, I would suggest transferring your balance to a lower APR. We can't help you with the Gov't.
