Topic Why sign the back of credit cards? Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

I just was wondering why you are supposed to sign the back of a credit card? Also, is writing "SEE ID" the same as signing it?

When you present a card to pay for something, the merchant is supposed to check your signature against the signature on the back of the card. So it is a security measure. You should sign your card when you activate it. I have never heard of writing in "see ID". Who told you to do that?

see id is sometimes used on company cards as they dont have a name on the card. if you dont sign the card with your signature youre comitting credit card fraud when you use it and so is the person that accepts it, and quite simply youre so stupid you dont deserve a credit card.
