I am currently a student and about to graduate in May. I am planning a trip to Europe for spring break, and need a credit card to help with the travel. I haven't really had credit before and am afraid that the APR will ultimately be high. Which card do you think will offer the best APR that won't make me classify myself as a student? If there is a low APR student card than I am open to that option.

For credit card purposes it is actually good to be a student. If you were not in school and had no credit history plus the relatively small income that most students have, good luck getting any credit cards. You should start with a student credit card and upgrade to a standard card once you graduate and start working. Check out the student cards on http://www.creditcardmenu.com by clicking on the browse section and clicking on the "student cards" link. Also, I am not sure how widely accepted the Amex card is accepted in Europe, but the Blue Amex for students has the most competitive APR I have seen in a student product. Good Luck.

i think colin is absolutely right. when i was establishing my credit history, i tried applying for a bunch of cards, and they all rejected me because of the combination of low income and lack of credit history.
the only ones (2, actually) that did accept me were student cards.
my recommendation would be to ONLY apply for student cards if you are a student.
