I pay my card co. through an ACH (Auto debit) of my bank account - the payment posts to the card account and is transferred out of my bank account the same or next day. The problem I am encountering is that the credit card company (NextCard) is not making the funds available for anywhere from 14-19 days AFTER they have received the money from my bank - in other words, I do not have access to charge to my card because they are holding the funds. Is this legal? I thought there were laws limiting the amount of time that say, a bank can hold a check deposited before they release the funds - do the same laws apply to credit card companies? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to call NextCard to ask what is going on. It should not take more than a few days to post a payment to your account. Let us know what you find out.

ok this is abit diffrent than a checking account in that the funds you are paying are not a deposit but a repayment of a loan. Funds avalibilty laws do not apply to a credit card. As the money is not your to begin with you need to remember that even if the funds are posted to your credit account as payment the funds may not be imediatly avalible.
The main reason for this situationis funds avalibility verification. It is a loss prevention tool that many credit companies use
