In my attempts to pay off all of my credit card debt I applied for an MBNA loan over the phone and was immediately approved but there was a lot of bad feedback on the internet about it and so I declined the offer on the same day. Problem: it's showing up on my credit history as requested and then declined. Is there any way to get that off my records?

Any advise on loans, in general.

Thanks for your help.

I don't think you can have this removed from your credit history. How would you rate your credit history - excellent, good or average? If your credit history is excellent, you could probably consolidate balances on a low rate credit card. What was the interest rate you were offered for the loan, and were there any origination costs etc..?

Thanks for your reply.

I think my credit history is good it'll be excellent in a month or two once a settlement issue from my Discover account disappears from my credit history.

I believe the interest rate to the MBNA loan was 17.99% or 15.99% - that seemed a little high to me with options to pay at 36, 48 or 60 months. I don't understand the origination costs as it relates to loans, please elaborate. Also, as I stated I was a little leery about MBNA's reputation given that there is a website called MBNA sucks, among other things.

Thanks again.
