The ideal FICO model says no more than 4 Bank cards (Visa/Mastercard) and one retail card (Target Guest Card, Mervyns, Best Buy, etc) to obtain the ideal FICO score. Some tips with handling a credit card: Obviously, never go over limit, and avoid charging close to your limit. Second, whenever you can, pay off the balance in FULL so you don't have to accrue finance charges. Third, check your credit reports at least every 6 months to make sure the credit card company is reporting the card and reporting your positive payment history accurately. Any more questions, just ask!
