I'm a credit card holder with a 23.99% APR and my records for the three cards is exce- llent, but when I tried to apply on a low rate APR credit card I'd been turn down on the following reasons: 1. Length of credit history is short. 2. Excessive use of credit card. 3. Too many inquiries I'm a credit card holder for maybe 1 year and 4 months. Is it why my credt history is short ? and of course there are inquiries because I've been trying to apply a low APR credit cards.
Thank You

Which credit card do you currently have?
If you have a good track record with the current issuer(s), you should ask for a lower interest rate on your existing accounts.

Do you think they will consider giving me low rate APR while now they earn more on my current hgh APR rate and annual pay ? By the way, every time I was turned down on my previous application on a low rate APR,the reason are as follows: 1.Excessive use and no balance. What does it mean? Is it not what they want, the more you owe the more they earn,an besides that my payment is always X4 above the minimum. 2.To much quiries.- Of course because I'm trying hard to find a low rate APR and was always denied. And how long would these quiries remain on my re- cords? 3.Length of credit history is short.- How long or how old are qualified for the low rate APR? I'm already 46 years old but younger than my wife.
I find this website more interisting and thanks for the advice, more power.

I believe that if your current credit card issuer offers other cards besides high APR cards, you should be able to get a lower rate. In the "Learn" section of this site you will find a related article "Lowering your APR". Also, you may want to wait a little while to apply for additional cards because it sounds as though the numerous inquiries are hurting you. Can you list some of the cards you have been turned down for?

These are the list of cards that I've been turn down: Capital One,Chase Card,Next Card and there are others that I could no longer remember. Today I have recieve an e-mail offer from Discover Credit Card with a 0 % introductory APR for cash balance transfer until June 2002 and 13.99 % APR after. But you know what ? I'm reluctant to apply because I might be turn down again and another quiries will be added to my credit records.- What can you advice about this offer ? Thank you for your concerned and time,I appreciate it very much. Was it Collin your name ? Thanks.

Chances are you will not be accepted for the Discover Card if you were turned down for a NextCard and Capital One credit card. Both of those issuers customize the interest rate to match your credit history. Have you checked your credit report for accuracy? You are entitled to a free report because you have been turned down for a credit card. Take a look at the Orchard bank Unsecured card in the browse section of this site. It is by no means a low rate card, but it sounds better than what you have.
Good Luck.

I'd let between 6-12 months pass before applying for any more cards. At this point, you have too many recent inquiries and a newly opened account. Call your current credit card issuer and ask for a lower rate. If they refuse, just hang up with them and call right back. This time, say you got an offer from "so and so (name of credit card company) offering you a "9.9%" interest rate and you would rather stick with them versus going to the issuer with the better rate. They may not give you 9.9%, but you will have a shot at a lower rate than 23.99%! Lastly, if they won't budge then, hang up again, and call back threatening to cancel. You don't want to actually cancel the card, just get them to transfer you to the "retention" department, because the people in this department have the power to alter your APR. You may also want to consider writing a complaint to the company through planetfeedback.com. This has worked EVERY time for me when it comes to getting my rate lowered. Good luck!
