If you are ever charged a late fee by a bank for being a few days late...GET a COPY of your cancelled check.

It seems some banks...may....cash the check...earn interest on it....while charging you interest on your balance and then they charge you a late fee.

That is a good idea. If you are close to the cut-off date it also is wise to call the issuer and have them notate your account that a payment has been mailed.
