Topic Best card for bankruptcy 2 years ago Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

By laura88 On 09/04/01

I filed bankruptcy about two years ago. I have re-established credit with four new cards (visa and master card included) and kept several of my accounts out of the filing to try to save my credit rating as much as possible. Right now, I have a credit rating score of 615 out of 800 and all of my accounts are current and never late. I need to get a major card with at least a $3000 balance to make a major purchase and wanted to find out which creditor I have the best chance of getting approved through. I already have accounts with Capital One and Cross Country. I know I can't do NextCard because they are affiliated with Providian, and that was one of the accounts I tried to keep out of my bankruptcy, but they closed it on their own when they found out I had filed even though the account was up to date and had never been late. I am trying to keep the inquiries to a minimum so I need to know the best options for me.

Why don't you ask your current issuers for a credit line increase? Which cards do you have currently?
