Topic 18 & Can't get approved Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

As you can see from the topic, I am 18 y/o and can't seem to get approved for a credit card without some type of annual fee. I am not a student, so that pretty much blows that out of the water. It seems that although I am married and pay all of my bills on time(they are in my name) I still can't seem to get a card. The whole idea of having a co-signer is not a possibility either. I don't have bad credit, I just don't have credit. But how can I get credit if noone will approve me without some type of outragious annual fee or deposit? Any Suggestions????????

mandy - do you have a checking account? i hope so. try getting what's called the "overdraft protection" for your checking account first. it will be reported as a credit line. next, you can get a department store or a gasoline card - those are usually the easiest to get. within a few months, you should have at least some credit profile ..

You mention that you are a student. Try applying for a credit card specifically designed for students. The parameters for approval are different, and it's a great way to establish some credit.

Check out the browse menu for student cards.
