Topic Dealing with collections agencies Go to previous topic Go to next topic Go to higher level

I'm trying to re-establish my credit to a good standing after my divorce. I obtained a copy of my credit report from all major bureaus and proceeded to fix each negative entry item by item. I have hit a snag in dealing with collections agencies. I explained to them that I was unaware of the charges made to the accounts that went into collections and offered to give them proof of this, their reply was to send me a bill by mail and pay the amounts in full. I have contacted them and paid the amounts in full with the condition that they upgrade my credit standing. So far they got their money and I have seen no results on my credit reports. Is there a way of making these collection agencies comply in making the appropriate changes and report to the credit bureaus the proper updated information?
