I am 19 and I have a checking account and savings. All my bills are in my name and I have never once been late w/ any of them. I have been recently trying to get a credit card of some sort but I can't even get a card for Target... It seems odd that if you don't have credit you can't get any. It's not like I have bad credit. Anyone have any wise ideas on how to obtain some? thanx

Sounds like you're doing a great job managing your finances so far.

Are you a student? If so, you may have more luck applying for a card geared towards college students. The parameters for approval will be much easier. Be sure to state that you are a full time student on your application.

If you're not a student, I would advise you to look in the search section on this site, the icon is on your left, to find a card for someone who is just establishing credit. You may not get the lowest APR around, but hopefully, you'll pay your balance off in full every month and the APR won't matter anyway. Once you have established some positive credit, you'll be getting more offers than you ever wanted. :)

Good luck,

Unfortunately I am not a student but I am active duty military. I really don't want a credit card but i need credit and a credit card isn't a abad thing in an emergency. I don't plan on making huge purchases on it I am just looking to build credit. I don't really have a clue how this whole credit deal works... I appreciate any help tho. Thanx
