my husband has his own credit cards only in his name. If he should die, am I responsible to pay them?

Hopefully you have some credit cards in your own name, if not you should. You would not be responsible for paying his accounts.

I am not a lawyer, but I would assume that his assets would be used to cover any outstanding liabilities and the remainder of his assets would go to you.
