I have no established credit. I do have a checking and savings account, and I have been working for 4 months at a reputable company. I started working here as soon as I graduated from college. I applied for two credit cards and was turned down for both. Recently I purchased a new car, and the dealer mentioned that I have a lot of hits on my credit history, and that that will impair my ability to get a credit card. What can I do to get a card?

Which credit cards did you apply for? Have you looked at the cards in the browse section of http://www.creditcardmenu.com under "cards for new or damaged credit"? Check out Aria and NextCard if you have not already. These issuers offer customized terms based on your credit history.

Also, as a last resort you could get a secured card and over the next 6 months transition to an unsecured product with the same issuer. Check out the Direct Merchant product if you want to look at this option.
