I have read some other responses. Consumer Counseling Credit would not even touch me. I do not have enough income, my loan profile "character" is awful due to divorce, but have managed to get two high rate Capital One and Providian cards I am paying regularly on. I have no way of declaring bankruptcy (too much to pay attorney), and have heard there is a 7 year "termination" of sorts you can do yourself. I know many of my and my ex's cards are in about their sixth year of charge off status. How can I find out what to do??? Does a credit report give you information as to when to do this??? I have an old report with no good information and have been turned over to so many different collectors the original grantor is a mystery. I appreciate anyhelp you might offer. Ellie in FLorida

That is good you are paying regularly on the Providian and Capital One cards.
1) Take a look at your credit report to see when certain negative items are going to be removed. You want to stay current on the bills that you have been paying regularly.
2) I would suggest that you make a list of ALL your income and expenses. If you can't increase your income by asking for a raise or getting a second job, maybe you can cut back on some of your expenses.
3) Once you know how much you can afford to pay regularly, you can try to work with each creditor to accept a payment plan.
