Hi. Im looking for a credit card that is good for my situation. My boyfriend is in the army in Germany, and I need a card that if I have to spend alot of money at once, I wont have to pay it off right away. I only have a minimun wage job and I have never tried to get a credit card before. So, I know next to nothing about crediit cards. I dont think that I even have a credit history because I live at home and dont have any bills in my name. Please help me. Thank you for what ever information you can get me. Thank you for your time, too. --- Kat

You need to be careful about spending "alot of money" at once. Considering that you are making minimum wage you do not want to charge things that you can't afford. At that point you will either only be able to afford the monthly minimum (which will lead to high interest charges) or you will not be able to afford the monthly minimum (which will lead to damaged credit). Look at "cards for new or damaged credit" in the browse section of our site.

Also, I suggest that you open a checking and/or a savings account at your local bank and apply for a department store credit card. I believe if you apply for overdraft protection on your bank account this shows up on your credit report. If you can't obtain a credit card on your own, you can ask your mom or dad to co-sign for a card.
