I am a student and had a credit card about two years ago which took me a long time to pay off. Since then, the only bills I have had to pay are my phone and electric bill which I always pay on time. I also have a checking accout. Will I have a problem getting a credit card? Which is a good one to apply for?

Hi md!

Sounds like you're on the right track. Try going to the browse section of this site and apply for one of the student cards. I like Amex Blue for students.

Whichever card you choose, just remember to always make your payments on time to establish good credit. :)

I am employed as well. Is it better to say you are a student or employed?

If you are a student, it's better to say you are a student. They won't expect you to have as much income or stability as a nonstudent and the approval process may be easier for you.
