I have bad credit and need to repair it. Basically I hurt myself bigtime when I was young and now that I am established I need to get a new credit card but am finding that impossible. What can I do?

Depending on how "big time" you hurt your credit, you may want to look at the Futurecard Unsecured Visa or a secured product from Futurecard, Capital One,Chase or another issuer. Also, keep in mind that issuers are looking for stability. If you have a stable permanent address, a checking and savings account, and a stable job you will be viewed more favorably by card issuers.

I saw your suggestion for "Futurecard Unsecured Visa or a secured product from Futurecard, Capital One".
When I checked it out, I saw that the total annual fees for the first year would be $193.00. Thats a lot of dough to spend on just setting up an account.
However, I am currently paying off a personal loan for a car. If this was not borrowed from a financial institution, is there a way I can have my payments reposrted to the credit bureau? I make monthly payments that I guess can be docummented with either returned checks or monthly statements.

Unfortunately, credit cards for individuals with credit problems are expensive. Regarding your question about the car loan, the finance company has the option to subscribe to a credit bureau. You should give them a call to see if they are reporting.
